Review of About Last Night (2014) by Stalon C — 26 Apr 2014
Well I'll be damned. Leave it to my man Kevin Hart to bring us the one good movie out this holiday weekend. Most would think, "Aw, hell. More rom-com crappola." This is an example of how to do a remake right.
Not only that, and this is even rarer, when the remake is actually better than the original. Now, the director is Steve Pink, the guy who made Hot Tub Time Machine, which I thought was quite funny. Kevin Hart and Regina Hall are the comedy balance, while Michael Ealy and Joy Bryant are the romance balance.
Hart feels at home, able to do what he does best as a comic; energized, snappy delivery. The jokes were on point, the script gave the characters an equal measure of love and humor, and it's the perfect movie to take your date to see late at night.
The film made me laugh out loud and I highly recommend it to anybody. Take your girl/guy and enjoy. Sidenote: Regina Hall is fine as HELL!!
