Review of About Last Night (2014) by Maruf H — 07 May 2014
Where it suffers in doing anything original, even ending as cliche as a typical white romantic comedy, it knows how to make you laugh and keep things light. It doesn't overplay the drama or kill someone out of nowhere (looking at you, white rom-com's) - it's just a nice balance.
Kevin Hart and Regina Hall absolutely steal their scenes, and Michael Ealy delivers, but perhaps Joy Bryant wasn't the best casting choice opposite him. It's somewhat anticlimactic when you realize Danny and Debbie are probably going to end up right where they were the first time, however, instead of finding the silver lining like Bernie and Joan did.
