I prefer the book to the movie. I read the book before I watched the movie so I feel that there are many scenes missing in the movie. In the beginning of the movie, the introduction to the characters is very brief.
However, there is a point in the movie that I think was clear and complete. Obviously, the main point of the movie is the friendship between Will and Marcus. The movie did a decent job presenting that relationship, since most of the scenes are about Will and Marcus.
The end of the movie was impressive, with Will saved Marcus from a humiliating situation.
