Sadly sung and softly strung Badly Drawn Boy - soundtrack innovators of About A Boy - are the real narrators of the Weitz Brothers' melancholy black comedy. Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette all give brave and committed performances throughout.
The film is good, funny, relateable, realistic and sadder than it would like to admit.
