Compared to the book, the movie was spot on with the most of the dialogue. The movie did not show how Marcus changed as much as he did in the book. In the end everyone's relationship with each other turned out pleasant in the movie but, they missed a big scene between Elli and Marcus.
The ending of the book showed more of the point of "about a boy".
