Review of Abigail's Party (1977) by Jason C — 19 Apr 2008
Relatively early Mike Leigh play from a not too distant past when British television had yet to turn into the diarrhoeic equivalant of convenience food. It's Leigh's brilliant understanding of his characters that makes this so wonderful, painting as they do a portrait of broken dreams, bitter marriages and tacky borgeouis aspirations in the heart of British suburbia.
A classic.
