Review of Abandon (2002) by Kelly N — 28 Sep 2007
I expected more from the Oscar-winning writer of "Traffic" Stephen Gaghan, but the film is completely straight-forward and predictable making it a rather dull viewing experience. The main actors are rather dull as well, but the supporting cast, including the adorable Zooey Deschanel and the criminally unknown Gabriel Mann, are good.
The film has a few effective moments sprinkled throughout, and it strives for some psychological depth to its characters, but it's all muddled and unfocused. The surprise ending was so obvious that I thought there has to more to it, some secondary surprise twist or something.
