Review of A-X-L (2018) by Drsiko — 26 Aug 2018
This movie could be okay if done 20 years ago as a teen-action movie. The plot seems to be written by a 12-year old, the kind of stories a young boy would dream of living: Being a cool dirt bike rider, a hot chick has a crush on him and some cool tech robot to play around with.
Everything here is a cliche: The 'super tech' presentation, the bullies, the crush of the two protagonists for each other. Too many issues with this "movie" that takes long to count.
How can a dropout to be so smart to fix a dog robot all by himself TWICE? How come FBI could be beaten up by two teens who never had previous training or even held a gun before? How come the dog robot inventor couldn't save it from being fumed? Isn't there any 'manual handling' installed to control it when it's getting berserk?
What made me hate the protagonists more is when they had no problem stealing gas or money from the ATM, while they protect this dog-robot thing because the military is 'abusing' it. I never had any empathy for any of them at the end. I never cared what is happening. Even the people in theater didn't care and they started playing with their phones, chatting or making out.
This movie is really bad. It doesn't deserve the time to even watch it for free. Save your time and cash.
