Review of A Wrinkle in Time (2018) by Krotos — 12 Mar 2018
A mangled, saccharine, dumbed-down adaptation of the classic children's novel. The plot will likely be incomprehensible to anyone who hasn't read the book, the acting is so-so (*this* Charles Wallace is a child prodigy? *This* Meg is a geeky, unpopular misfit?), and the shoehorning of girl-empowerment affirmations into everything gets hamhanded and annoying.
Madeleine L'Engle's books are rightly classics but, as this movie demonstrates, may be essentially unfilmable.
