Review of A Wrinkle in Time (2018) by Anthony L — 16 Oct 2018
This book was written to be imagined, not to be shown. But for anyone who read this book as a child and connected with it deeply, it's a deeply satisfying film. The emotions Meglyn expresses with her facial expressions and eyes - some adult actors don't approach her level.
And the racial inclusiveness of the casting is a breath of fresh air. The special effects are beautiful but don't replace the heart of the story. The film doesn't go as deep into the darkness and terror of the It as I would have liked, but this is a children's movie so I get it.
The message comes across regardless. If you loved the book as a child or are willing to watch it with childlike wonder - go for it. Especially now that it's available on Netflix.
