As I was thinking of actors and outstanding performances Gena Rowlands easily came to mind. She is a beautiful, sensual actress of amazing talent known for her starring roles in the films of her deceased husband and leading American independent film maker, John Cassavetes.
Although perhaps not as well-known as some "stars", I consider Gena Rowlands to be one of our greatest actors. If you have not seen her or a John Cassavetes movie I highly recommend this one as an introduction to her acting ability and his unique style of film making.
