Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Johann S — 19 Aug 2007
I never thought that another filmmaker would trump my passion for Fellini, but this movie has done it. This movie hit me like a train, and it never gave me a chance to recover. The performances, especially by Gena Rowlands, were brilliant.
Her fragile body and those facial expressions made her psychosis seem so real and yet so lyrical. The direction by John Cassavetes was stunning. All I can say is that I was glad to have watched something this moving.
