Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Christof H — 15 Jun 2010
A Masterpiece of Psychodrama first of all this Women are mentally insane ok but she isn't a Danger for her Kids in Fact she is a Good Mother a Mother who gives Fun to her Kids instead of bullying them like the most Parents but the Society want that the Parents bully their Kids so they bully their Kids again so her Husband is forced by Society to hate her for being not a "Good Wife" like his Mother sure this Woman is exhausting but she is also entertaining her Mood Swings are alarming but she don't belong behind Close Bars I say the Sanatorium is always the false Answer when somebody has psychic Problems she must go in the Sun, swim, get some Girl or Boy, make a Party, eat some Sweets everything that rise his Mood or analyze and dissolve the Childhood Trauma which is responsibly for that Mentally Distortion when the Woman comes back from the Sanatorium she is broken everything is much worser that is always the Fact I experienced it a lot People get drawn into the Sanatorium for nothing just for being different than the Rest or volunteerable because the Society talk them in and when they come back they broken I mean what did the Woman? Let their Kids dress as Pirates sing a little what's the Thing about it? She just enjoys Life.
And when she walk down the Streets and wait for their Kids where she looks good in her Skirt and the "Normal" Women don't wanna give her the Time this Indivuals are the real sick ones but overall thats a real crazy Family and I don't wanna live with them this Circus is superfluously but realistic in many dysfunctional it is that Way all the Fault of Society sure this Movie is a disturbing tragiccomic Masterpiece pure 70's Power like Fassbinder grandious directed and shoted and with a beautiful Soundtrack, Gene Rowlands and Peter Falk play hillarious and John Cassavetes is a very gusty Director showing naked and drunken Kids another great Scene was when the Indian fall down the Flank of the Hill.
