Review of A Walk to Remember (2002) by Shantel K — 15 Mar 2018

A Walk Remember is a romance movie. The main character has leukemia and her name is Jamie. She is the Pope's daughter and isn't popular or liked. Everyone finds her weird and makes fun of her. She falls in love with a boy, Landon. Landon is a popular carefree boy. He gets in a bit of trouble and to make it up he has to be apart of the play that Jamie is starring in. Landon needs extra help and Jamie is assigned to give him that help. While they spend a lot of time together sparks start flying and Landon becomes more and more in love with Jamie. He loses his friends and becomes closer to his mother. Everything he does is for her. He wants to become a better person because of Jamie and will stop at nothing to make her happy. The movie shows a deep meaning that most human beings don't understand. The movie is trying to show multiple things such as love, life, and death and the meaning of all of them. It is not just another chick flick that shows meaning less love. It's deeper than that.

Love isn't something you should take for granted. It doesn't stay forever. Love is way more than just a feeling toward someone. "Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful.Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes." As shown in the quote love isn't what we thought. It has a lot more meaning and purpose then what we sometimes think. The movie brings so much meaning to love and shows how love changes lives and can help people through what they're trying to get through.

Life, something you go through without even thinking how lucky you are. We go through the days of our lives not worrying about when it ends. When in all reality it could end tomorrow or even in a week. We don't understand how lucky we are in this world. In the movie landon shows how important her life was to him by saying "I would have traded her life for mine." He loves her so much that he values her life so much. Her life is so important to him he would give up his. This shows that the book isn't just another chick flick and actually has more meaning.

Do People change? I think they do. Everyone can change if they have a desire and if they have someone to follow. In the movie jamie is a very kind and generous person who is trying each day to be a little better. When she meets landon at first he thinks shes a weird girl but as he gets to know her he becomes found of her and wants to be better like her. "Jamie has faith in me. She makes me want to be different, better." In this quote Landon is saying how jamies example to him makes him want to change and be better like her. He wants to be the man she deserves.

A lot of people will say "It's just another boring chick flick with the same story line." They are right about one thing. It is a chick flick. However it does not have the same storyline as all the other chick flicks and it is not boring. Would you call love boring? If love is so boring then why do we long for it? Why do we need it? Love isn't boring. The movie shows a deeper love a love that we can only dream of. Not every love story has a sick main character that falls in love with someone and then in the end it ends up not being a happily ever after.

Every piece of evidence I have provided has just been proving my point. The movie is a lot deeper than just love. I talk about love and how its more than a feeling. Love is more than having a feeling for someone. If you don't understand how love impacts the story line you won't understand the meaning of the movie. Another thing that I mention is the importance of life. You have no idea how lucky you are to have a life until it's taken away from you. If you know this you will understand why they do some of the things they do in the movie. I also talk about changing. Sometimes for people to change they need to have an example. If you want to change you should look at someone who you want to be like and do what they do and try and become like them but be a little different. Knowing all of these things helps you understand why the characters do what they do and understand the full meaning the author was trying to portray.
