Review of A Walk in the Sun (1945) by Andy M — 11 Nov 2007
The greatest war movie I've ever seen. Made a mere two years after the battle of Salerno it depicts, this film was far ahead of its time. The dialogue is snappy, but also reflective and poignant. The action, while relatively tame for the time, is still somehow effective and director Lewis Milestone handles the ensemble cast extremely well.
It also has an unforgettable ending, unlike any other war film of the time. You gotta see this forgotten milestone of war cinema.
