Review of A Walk in the Clouds (1995) by Izi M — 07 Aug 2009
It shows how bad an actor Keanu Reeves actually is. In the scene where he and Anthony Quinn are getting drunk is quite possibly one of the more startling examples of great and terrible acting in one scene. In Quinn I cant tell if he is drunk or just playing like he is which shows that he is an actor, with Reeves it is hilarious and uncomfortable watching him trying to act like he is drunk, this is something that is covered early on in acting classes and is a classic case of someone who looks good on camera and is not an actor.
Other than that the story is a fairly standard romantic drama made more so by it being a period piece and set in a vineyard. It follows a predictable plot line and would be even more unremarkable if not for Quinn's presence, which saves this from becoming a soap opera.
I cant recommend the movie but I can recommend watching Quinn work.
