Review of A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) by Nicolas L — 30 Mar 2015
I thought the mystery part of the film fell flat. I didn't get a good feeling of unraveling the criminals' evil scheme. T.J. was a wasted character, feeling like he could have been used more effectively to develop Neeson's character if there was better chemistry between actors, and if nearly every conversation they had wasn't unnatural as FUCK. The part when Scudder starts to act as more of a hostage negotiator was much better, with great tension and dialogue, as well as another epic phone speech like from Taken. The ending was very unsatisfying. The very end is anticlimactic as hell, and the preceding scenes were no better. Rather than ending the movie at the perfect point, something happens that is a blatant excuse to set up a poor action scene with Scudder.
Aside from that, there were a few nice tracks from the score that stood out.
