Review of A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) by Sgt. C — 03 Feb 2015
(55%).
A largely empty private-eye kidnap and murder B-picture based off a pulpy paperback novel from the early 1990's. This has split a lot of cinema fans. Some see it as 2014's equivalent of "Prisoners" (it's really not even in the same league), while others have hated its tired story, one dimensional characters, and just the fact it has nothing new to offer. I'm somewhere in-between. I like Neeson, and he suits the role well. The direction is pretty good with plenty of detailed, and interesting location work. But you simply cannot get past the fact that by the end all you have witnessed is a slightly above average crime thriller that takes a few risks here and there, but is still lacking any real lasting impression.
