Review of A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) by Keesha B — 13 Oct 2015
A Walk Among The Tombstones ambitious movie that tries to break normal cliches and barriers normally associated with a dark psychological thriller/ action movies such as this one. Unfortunately I can only give an A for effort as this movie failed to fully connect to the audience and seemed to hold itself back while trying to be unique.
This movie was all over the place, from character motives to pace to the lesson trying to be taught. To describe this movies pace would be near impossible, some scenes seem to last an eternity while others seems rushed. This constant change in pace seemed to stick out like a sore thumb and made it difficult to really get Immersed into the plot and enjoy the content given to us. This also made the movie feel way too long, Act 3 was totally unnecessary and really took away from the movie in my opinion. The battle at the end of Act 2 would of fit as the end of the movie so much better than the actual end. Everything after that battle feels unneeded and leaves a bad taste in the audiences mouth.
The characters in this movie were good for the most part but there was indefinably one weak link in this movie and this was DJ. This character was so bad and held this movie back so much. Every time this movie started to pick up DJ would cause an issue and move the plot away from what it should of been.
This movie should of stuck with a dark psychological feel but instead was reduced to nothing more than an average detective movie with attempts of humor here and there.
