Review of A Very Special Love (2008) by Rose Ann A — 05 Aug 2008
This movie is the first big screen team-up of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.
John Lloyd is Miguel "Miggy" Montenegro, president and owner of the Flippage firm that publishes men's magazine called Bachelor. 25-year old Miggy is handsome and hardworking. And his whole life is bent to impressing his half-brother Art played by Rowell Santiago. This drove Miggy to be hot-tempered, cold-hearted and slave-driver to his editorial staff.
Sarah is the bread-winner Adelaida "Laida" Magtalas in this movie. A "jologs" college graduate who idolizes and has a big crush on Miggy who she got to interview back in her college days. She works for her dreamboy Miggy as editorial assistant of the Bachelor Magazine and she is set to win him.
The movie showed a lot of funny and emotional scenes which showed how the dashing debonaire leading man Loydie/Miggy fell for a simple, funny and innocent Sarah/Laida. My words wont give justice to the very good scenes here. You've got to watch it yourself! Both lead stars indeed have this refreshing chemistry - in all fairness.
The movie was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. All her movies were consistent crowd-pleasers but this one stood out -- A movie for all ages that will make you relax, laugh and really feel good.
Definitely a must-see movie.
