The way I describe this is Amelie meets Atonement. Such a strange combination for what results to be one of the greatest war films I've ever seen. So beautiful, so poetic, so realistically quirky.
An aside, I had a great deal of fun picking out Jeunet regulars like Dominique Pinon (hell yes!) and Audrey Tautou. Some of my favorite actors ever.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet has firmly placed himself as my favorite director.
