Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Travis J — 28 Dec 2008
Vivid colors, excellent cinematography, a decent, albeit larger than life, if not distended story and on a personal note, Dominique Pinon. As a date movie (which it kind of was - holiday rental from the library, watched with my girlfriend), it works quite well.
My only complaint stems from some of stylistic choices made by Jeunet. While I appreciate his particular sensibilities when it comes to filmmaking, much of this films comes across as "more-Amelie than Amelie.
.." Perhaps not the best choice for the advancing of one's career, but eh, who am I to judge.
