Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Pete S — 14 Apr 2012
A beautiful story and captivating film. Audrey Tautou's character refuses to believe that her fiance has died at war. What was so moving about this film for me wasn't the actually journey her character takes but rather the tiny deals she makes with herself, continuing on her quest if something as minor as railroad cart makes a noise at a certain time.
The film's ending is truly touching. I'm not a crier but this is 1 of the two films I ever cried in.
