Review of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) by Daniel P — 20 May 2008
I still haven't read the book (way up there on my to-read list), but the movie is so wonderfully bittersweet. The relationship between Francie and her loving but hopelessly alcoholic father is one of the saddest in movie history.
Also great is her tough, sensible mother. Watch it with a loved one, and be prepared to cry.
