Review of A Touch of Zen (1970) by Zachary S — 12 Jul 2007
A fantastic martial arts epic. It's a three hour epic told in two parts. I have to admit that the first half requires a lot of attention and the plot is hard to follow. Still the movie is intriguing in its ability to completely switch genres on the viewer seamlessly: ghost story, kung-fu, philosophy, and psychadelia.
The movie works more as an art house film full of long beautiful exterior shots. Fabulous acting, too.
I can imagine this film yeilding multiple viewings and only getting better with time.
