Review of A Time to Kill (1996) by Nick C — 27 Sep 2008
I remember thinking this was the best movie in the world when I was 13 years old. Now It just seems slightly dated. You can see Joel Schumacher bursting at the seams to become the Joel Schumaker we al know today, but this isn't the movie to do that with.
The script could have been edited down to take out some of the "Black and white. GET IT???" moments and the directing could have been a little more subtler. The whole time I kept being reminded how much better To Kill a Mockingbird was.
Although there are some really great performances in it which I think saves the movie. Fucking John Grishm. I will never read one of his boks ever.
