A Time to Kill is a fantastic movie with a gripping story and superb acting. First off, I haven't read the book so I can't comment on how well it stays true to the source material. This movie has been a favorite of mine since I saw it in the theater when I was in high school.

Now I show it in my Law class at school and the students still find it powerful. The story moves along at a nice pace and you really get a strong feel for the characters which makes the build-up to the case's outcome that much more powerful.

There are some great actors in this movie that all turn in stellar performances. McConaughey does a great job as lawyer Jake Brigance and his closing argument speech at the end is delivered wonderfully.

It's a really moving speech. Sam Jackson's Carl Lee is a character that you can route for even if you think he did the wrong thing. Kevin Spacey is so smarmy and arrogant here and just makes you dislike his character.

Sandra Bullock looks great and brings a strength and sense of idealism to her character. The supporting cast is all great led by Platt, Cooper, and both Sutherlands. Visually, you really get the feel for the south in this movie with the outdoor shots and how everyone is so hot and sweaty throughout the movie.

Lastly, the music does a nice job setting the mood and building the suspense. Overall, this is a great movie that everyone should see.
