Review of A Thousand Years of Good Prayers (2007) by Sylvia Q — 04 Aug 2009
Save for a few interesting dialogues between the father and the people he meets, overall it is quite a dull movie. It puzzles me when the movie abruptly comes to the near end, with the father and his daughter sitting side by side (as seen on the poster), after a not-so-intense conversation between the two.
The conversation is supposed to clear the air of years of misunderstanding but it is simply not "dramatic" enough. You don't sense much emotion out of it. Unless you really crave for a movie made by an American Chinese, you can bypass it.
