Review of A Thousand Words (2012) by Ike W — 07 Jul 2012
Nobody seemed to like this movie...I'm not sure why. It wasn't bad at all. Granted I was expecting a lot more comedy in it, but once you get over that it was a good movie.
I guess the parts that bothered me the most were the parts with his wife. Whenever it was a scene with his wife they could have really made it funny at those parts, but instead they always spiraled...you know what spiraled is too much of a cushioning word, it was more like a drop off a cliff face into a depressing dramatic event with his wife. I mean you get your hopes up for a really comedic scene and then it's a reality slap in the face, and you are just like awh man. Honestly I was starting to be like, damn she needs a tree too because apparently she also relies way too much on words to express her feelings.
Of course the whole time I'm thinking that it's very simple. He needs to write down a brief explanation about what is going on between him and the tree(or even better he could do a collage of words from magazines like kidnappers do). That way it's on paper and doesn't have to be repeated he can just keep that paper and show it to his wife or whoever and if they need proof just get out the ax again cause that doesn't cause leaf lose.
But yeah, good family movie. It is one of those movies where the person basically learns a life lesson in the hopes of turning things around and becoming a better individual. I guess all I can say is don't go into the movie expecting a knee slapping laugh fest and you should be good.
