Review of A Taste of Honey (1961) by Private U — 15 May 2008
That is the worst poster/DVD packshot for any film I have ever seen - makes A Taste of Honey seem like a naff "Golden Age" romantic drama, when it's the funniest, most poignant, most hauntingly poetic film ever made.
Few films since have tackled social taboos so movingly, so unflinchingly, so wittily. You don't have to be Morrissey to love it, although it might help. See it. It's what your eyes have evolved for.
