This will have been very controversial back in 1961 for its subject matter, but even now in the highly enlightened 21st century where teenage pregnancy is ten-a-penny, this is an excellent kitchen-sink drama which is really well-written and acted.
Rita Tushingham is unforgettable with her pudding-basin hair cut and big brown eyes!
