Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Lasse C — 21 Jan 2010
This movie is a classic. Everything in it works. The story, the pacing and especially the acting. Vivien Leigh is simply breathtaking as Blanche Dubois. Her portrayal of a woman's slow descent to madness is stunning as well as deeply moving as she is in fact not to blame for her fall.
Marlon Brando captures the raw, sexual nature of his character and his machismo is perhaps only bested by Sean Connery in the first Bond movies. Overall Elia Kazan really brought his A-game with this one.
