Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Sidney S — 22 May 2011
A motion picture masterpiece. The famous play adapted into a film delivers a sensational and emotional story. Viven Leigh gives an awesome performance as Blaunche, Stella Kowalski's (Kim Hunter in an awesome performance) sister who comes to New Orleans to seek romance and abandon her troubled past.
The story is truly gripping as you can feel pitty for Blaunche as she is mentally unstable yet hopeless. What really steals the show is the great Marlon Brando in the film that made him famous. Brando gives a powerful performance as Stanley, Stella's husband.
Brando is truly captivating in his performance that should have won him an Oscar. This is one of the many reasons that Brando may be the greatest of all time.
