Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Douglas L — 09 Sep 2013
Tennessee Willaims wrote a great script from his play. Its all very interesting and the characters well written. There are many great tonal shifts and they are done primarily through the gaps in dialog and the performing of the actors.
Incredible. The questions of sensibility and social class are presented with great precision and care. Visually speaking it isn't too impressive but then this is the early1950s. Marlon Brando as Stanley is beyond impressive.
The character comes alive and walks around on your screen. It is a remarkable performance...one to be remembered and cherished for the rest of film history.
