Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Omar L — 26 Nov 2018
It's a beautiful story of how love and talent can combine and collide in constructive and destructive ways. While Cooper's directing seems just a bit unpolished (some shots linger too long, others not long enough), he has a distinct style.
Perhaps the most notable choice was to allow the actors to express their emotion without drawing attention to it (kudos to Sam Elliott especially). But perhaps what made this movie more enjoyable for me was its unapologetic display of pop music as a legitimate musical art form, as meaningful to an artist as any bluesy, country style music.
