Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Jose Miguel G — 03 Nov 2018
Not one dry eyes in the theaters when we watched this. I just sat there contemplating. This film showed the tragedy we all live everyday. The vulnerability of being human. Ally's character becoming a Pop Star because it sells, took her organic talent to mainstream.
This movie not only touched gender biases, critics, fame, social pressure, addiction and a lot more - it also emphasizes on mental health and how it stems from childhood. Lady Gaga sang with a lot of subtle falsetto, I always hear a raw raging voice in her music all these years, but in this film, it captured her versatility to the highest form.
Bradley is eargasmic. I wonder why it took him so long to create music and to debut in film direction, he is a natural. I didn't know it would be possible to feel so much for the characters of a film as if it was your life being portrayed.
The insecurities build up the characters, to stardom and to a tragedy. This is my movie of the year! "Al-ly never love again". That pause. My heart!
