Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Johnny C — 14 Oct 2018
This movie will be a classic from a few years, acting on it is simply divine and all the captivating characters, Jackson can be seen as a bad person and even a possible villain for some as well as a victim, Cooper perfectly wears a tired man with serious problems of addiction, it is worth remembering that this was her directorial debut in which by far was a great job, Gaga gives a performance worthy of a professional actress, the dramatic scenes are her forte and she can quickly break the prejudice that singers do not know how tô act, the fact that she is a pop star who has to play a singer who has to pretend to be a pop singer is definitely something brilliant, Sam Elliot delivers a quiet, sad and easy to relate performance, definitely the role of his career. The songs are perfect, they are the best ballads in Gaga's career,.
And definitely one of them will give Cooper his first Grammy nomination and maybe even a victory, yes he is that good as a singer. The story succeeds in being a little drawn from the middle to the second act, but the end of it makes it all worthwhile.
