Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Ellen F — 11 Oct 2018
There just wasn't the intenseness on Gaga's part.
She was too calm. The original portrayed the yearning for love, desire... sheer heartbreak. The over and over of happy then crushing sadness. Two people that could never be truly happy.,it was long at the beginning and too fast in the end. It seemed unbalanced.
Gaga's music was exceptional. But the movie just didn't have the intensity that was portrayed in the 1976 version with Streisand and Kristopherson.
Maybe the ages of the characters were off. The suicide was terrible. Lack luster. I was disappointed in the film as a whole... bit loved Gaga's music.
