Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Jason%20 L — 11 Oct 2018
Not since 1997's movie "Titanic" has there been a more relatable and interactive story than what Bradley Cooper and Lady GaGa gave to us in "A Star Is Born".
An extremely modern look deep, deep inside what what is the core of all of our "being"......LOVE.
We are not talking the run of the mill, boring love story told as naseum over the past 30 years..
We are talking about the movie that turns all that on it's head, shakes it a couple times, and puts back in its proper place, movie!
Classic tale: Two people meet, fall in love, get married, kids, etc etc. This tale keeps things simple and ends with variying degrees of sadness, usually the sadness that lasts a couple hours after the story ends and goes away quickly.
Modern AF Tale: Two people find the "Holy Grail" of love which is laid out perfectly for us like a fine restaurant taking its time to prepare and serve the members of its audience. Keeping it well fed all the way until the final scene. It's like it turned Maslow's Heiarchy of needs, taking Love/Belonging and moves it directly from the middle and places it as the most essential of needs!
Speaking of the final scene, can I just mention something kind of crazy?! It seems to me that there were small parts of Kubrick in Bradley's vision as the filmmaker. Subtle hints that I'll keep secret until I can go back and re watch the film). Now I'm not implying that Bradley Cooper is the modern day Stanley Kubrick, all I'm saying is that just as the movie title suggests, A Star Is Born here, I just think it's on the opposite side of the lens that filmed this movie.
