Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Kathy Q — 05 Oct 2018
I found it to be one long depressing movie. Went with friends and when it was over we all said "that was an awful way to spend 2-1/2 hours". I'm reading most people are loving the movie but I'm not feeling it. It just dragged on - could have taken 30 minutes off the movie without close ups and silent pauses that were like watching grass grow. Lady Gaga (very talented) was supposed to be this very gifted songwriter with a "gift" and "message" to give the world. But they had her as a pop superstar with glitter and dancers and this techno-pop music - all formula, girl band type stuff. I also don't see how the Grammy scene could happen - no one could stop a drunk from getting up on stage as he's crawling up.
The aisle and steps on live TV?
I've watched documentaries on addiction that were not as painful to watch. I just was disappointed.
