Bradley Cooper proves himself just as capable on the other side of the camera as he is n front. Lady Gaga gives a decent, though a bit more forced, performance. The film doesn't fall into the silly soap opera feel of the 1976 version.
It suffers a bit from the overly familiar subject matter. Overall, it is a well made drama with a focus on characterization.
