A Star is Born is a wonderfully entertaining movie. I made sure to catch it on opening day. I even bought the soundtrack after seeing the movie. Discovering Ally in the first half of this film is exhilarating and the original songs are catchy, melodic, and thoughtful.
the only issue that I have with this movie is the same issue I had with all of the versions of this movie; the denouement. The storyline insinuates that in order for Ally to further succeed, the only option is for Jack to commit suicide.
I seriously hope that I'm not the only person who thinks suicide isn't romantic, or an obligatory bittersweet relationship sacrifice. I would have preferred if Jack had initiated a divorce. Wouldn't that have been more admirable than swapping a life for the sake of a career.
..? maybe that's just me. But, really, buy the soundtrack.
