Review of A Star Is Born (2018) by Peter R — 04 Oct 2018
TO START WITH, I HATE REMAKES AS A GENERAL RULE, AND THIS IS THE 4TH REMAKE OF THIS MOVIE (GARLAND'S ORIGINAL WAS EXCEPTIONAL, THE 2 PREVIOUS REMAKES WERE MOSTLY CONSIDERABLE FLOPS) THIS ONE, HOWEVER, TRENDS CLOSE TO GARLAND'S ORIGINAL AND WOULD BE SOARING EVEN HIGHER ON AUDIENCE POLLS IS SOME FOLKS COULD SEPARATE THEIR HATE OF A PARTICULAR ARTIST OR POLITICS AND ACTUALLY JUDGE THE MOVIE ON IT'S OWN MERITS.
unlike many other stories where the love part of it is pushed into the background, the movie mostly works on the relationship between the leads, and how outside events affect them. if you're going to sneak anything into the theater, make sure it's tissues.
