Review of A Star Is Born (1954) by David S — 26 Feb 2009
Even with missing footage, the film is overly long, and could have done with some more judicious editing at the screenplay stage- but otherwise a truly remarkable film. The key central performances by Mason and Garland are really stellar, and the numbers are good too.
Scores points for daring to be pretty bleak throughout large chunks of the film.
