Review of A Star Is Born (1954) by Jennifer B — 04 Mar 2008
A little disappointed by this... An excellent idea for a film, some fantastic acting by Garland and some good scenes which could have been fleshed out into something amazing, but I still felt something was missing.
Yes, at least about 27 minutes of footage which was cut out of the original due to complaints about the length, but also the expectancy to be dazzled was not quite satusfied considering the acclaim this movie has.
There is one scene though where Garland sings "The Man that Got Away" That is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and makes the whole movie worthwhile. This is a song that I have loved for some time now but never saw it sung like this! :).
