This film couldn't have possibly had any more plot holes. FACT: Nearly $80 Million was spent on this film, and in the end they didn't even complete the special-effects to the level they were originally intending to.
Consequently, the film was shelved, then was finally released to gross just short of $2Million. And that is a very UNEARNED $2million, if you ask me.
