Review of A Sound of Thunder (2005) by Spencer G — 19 Dec 2007
Fifty years into the future from today, only corporate America could turn a time-travel machine into a Disney ride -- to kill dinosaurs. I've not read the Ray Bradbury short story this film is based on, but I'd be surprised if the directory and writers did not take some liberties with the script.
The butterfly effect is exploited and the world is turned upside down when a "time safari hunter" steps on the little bugger. Shudders of time-waves begin striking earth as each one steps it back a little farther into the warped time frame until monsters abound and even human life evolves into a fish like creature.
Parts of the movie are interesting and time-warp movies always twist the mind, although this one does little of that making time-travel seem as easy as going to the corner espresso bar.
