Review of A Sound of Thunder (2005) by Derek J — 18 Mar 2008
Expect a scifi-channel experience when you sit down for this one. Don't get me wrong, sometimes the CGI is really well done. And there sure is alot of it. I'd say 80% of the movie was done using green screens.
Now If only the animators weren't stuck with this writing and direction. The story had way to many flaws to keep me focused. At times it even seemed the the story was creating its own version of, well, science as a whole.
Besides the science (and logic) of the film, a few other things that bothered me were: Lighting and shadow mistakes. When you use green screen for sunny outdoor scenes...you sort of need the light to be shining the correct way.
...Then there are the times when the cast needs to explain every thought and move so that the audience knows whats happening. Things like this easily ruin a movie for me. So though I'm not saying its a total loss (some may love it), I wouldn't personally recommend it.
