Review of A Sound of Thunder (2005) by Vicky C — 29 Jul 2008
It's got Dinosaurs, time travel and Bradbury. How can you go wrong? Well, by ignoring Bradbury, for a start. What begins as an interesting premise, quickly drivels into scene after scene of survival horror (lacking the horror) intermingled with technobabble.
The movie talks about science with total ignorance, creating a situation that makes no sense however you look at it. Suspension of disbelief is thrown out the window when unconvincing hybrids between dinosaurs and baboons pop up.
But the real problem in the movie are the characters. You just don't care for them. From the 50's styled all-American-action-scientist (protagonist) to stereotypical greed motivated businessman (antagonist), none of them manages to interest the viewer.
Quite a waste of a good Bradbury.
