Review of A Somewhat Gentle Man (2010) by Noah F — 15 Jul 2011
Before I saw it I read that it was funny so I was expecting a gritty story with some dark humor. Turns out the director kinda overlooks the nastier elements of the story and goes mostly for comedy. But it works and that is due entirely to Stellan Starsgard's performance.
He plays a simple man, who for the most part is not full of any type of complexity. But he's so believable in the role and every move he made I bought it. Some of it gets a little too cute for me but there are a handful of great scenes and a few big laughs throughout.
